San Francisco 49ers vs. Minnesota Vikings | Week 1 Game Preview

49ers are 6-point Road Underdogs

The Minnesota Vikings almost got to the Super Bowl in 2017.  This offseason, they added the franchise quarterback who had been the 49ers' target, Kirk Cousins, before the miracle Jimmy Garoppolo acquisition happened.  So the Vikings understandably are a favorite.

Jimmy Garoppolo will have something to do with the outcome of today's game though.  He's had a full training camp with Coach Kyle Shanahan and they've had the full summer to prepare for this game.  Don't count out Jimmy G and this hungry 49ers team.

Against The Odds

49ers had been on a major downward trajectory once ex-head coach Jim Harbaugh left the franchise to join Michigan, but last year’s trade for former Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for a second-round pick could go down as one of the best deals in team history. San Francisco was 1-10 SU before pulling the trigger and went 5-0 in five games with Garoppolo under center. They’ll need to rely heavily on him in order to reverse their misfortunes in Minnesota, as San Francisco is 0-5 SU in its past five road games vs the Vikings while averaging just 14.6 points per game.
